Moving forward...

Disclaimer...I'm blogging to avoid doing other work. So if this is short, it means I did what I needed to do!

Hello! I just realized that I haven't blogged since July 22! Wow....that is a super long time! I've thought about it several times, but then life got in the way! Things are really good here. Too good, almost.

My divorce is not yet final, but close. We have a court date on Sept. 16, so at least I have a d-day if he doesn't get his act together before that. I'm feeling really peaceful about it right now. I'm not sure why...maybe because he is now living here in town, and it's plenty close (across town). We are working on being friends, and it's not easy. Everything he does drives me crazy, even the things he does to be a friend (like coming into work and help me move furniture) make me feel like he may have ulterior motives. So, we will continue to work on boundries and learning our new roles. And yes, I'm sure I drive him crazy too. I KNOW I'm not perfect!

The kids are great. Rachel is having a 6th birthday party tonight. She is very excited. I'm a little worried...we sent the invites out 2 weeks ago, and I've only heard from 3 or 4 of her friends. I have no clue if that means the others will come or not. I hope they just forgot to call (like I often do) b/c otherwise I'm afraid she'll be very disappointed. Times like this I miss home b/c I know we would have at least heard from our friends there....PLUS, I felt comfortable enough with them to call and ask if I didn't hear. Here, I don't feel like I know the parents well enough to make that call. I know this is hard to believe, but I'm really pretty shy around people I don't know.
She also lost another tooth on Tuesday. So, now her bottom two are gone. I think she may be asking for front teeth for Christmas at this rate!

Jessy got her fall schedule the other day. Somehow she got put into music class instead of the class she wanted...she's also in band, so it seems to me that would be a LOT of music! I have to call the school and find out what's up with that. Again, don't really like calling people I don't know very well to ask questions like that!
She and I went to 6Flags yesterday with her youth group. It was a ton of fun, and I even went on a roller coaster that went upside down...and liked it! Jessy rocked the day and went on every roller coaster there, even despite an ongoing tummy ache. She amazes me! :) It was a very relaxing day (even though I walked almost 20,000 steps!) On the ride home, we got to sit in a van with 10- 13 year old boys. Can you say stinky?!? LOL.

Andrew is also ok. He is spending the day with his dad today. He's still cooking my Tuesday night meals and loving it. This week it was a beef stir fry of sorts and he got to learn substitutions b/c I thought we had broccoli in the freezer when in fact it was green beans. Turns out, he thought they tasted better than broccoli would have! :)

I met an old friend over the 4th of July, and we have been spending a lot of time on the phone. I just want to clarify....he is just a friend. However, it has been great to be able to reconnect with him and talk about both our pasts and our current life. And Facebook has put me in contact with another old family friend, and he and I have also talked about where life has brought us. I guess what I'm saying is these old friendships have helped me put my life in focus, and I'm really beginning to move on. I feel great about what my life could have in store for me! :)

So, recap, life is good. :) And now, I have to mow and clean!

Till next time....
