Ice Cream!

Ok, so I decided I am not going to write daily, because let's face it...some days you just can't be positive! :) Friday was definitely one of those days, and let's just say I'm glad it's over! And yesterday, I just slept off the week!

But today, the sun is shining, and it's a great day to go get ice cream. So, I bribed my kids. Now, I'm not proud of this, but I did it! We went out for lunch after church and made our game plan. I gave them each a list of a few chores (that they helped create), and when they finished the one I secretly put a star next to, we went out for ice cream. They knew they were working for ice cream, but boy were they happy when they got the prize before they were finished!! Apparently, I wasn't the only one who thought ice cream would be good today because DQ was very busy!

So, now we are home again, and with full bellies, they are working on finishing up those chores. Man, if life were only this easy all the time!

I also bought some flowers for the front. This year is the first year I will really be working on keeping the front of the house pretty. I am really tired of looking at our house and seeing....brown. We live in a brown, cedar sided house that is badly in need of a coat of varnish. So, it's not very pretty to look at! With the plants starting to come up (very sparatically as the previous owners didn't do a lot of landscaping), I realized this was going to the year I could do some planting out front. How to do this w/o spending tons of money on plants was a big problem for me. But then I realized I could just buy some pots, and plant in those. Then, I can take them with me when I move. Duh moment! :) So today, I went out and bought some pots (really cheap ones from Ace and Walmart), and some really simple flowers, and got started. I must say, it already looks better. I'm thinking I may get some more, but this is a good start. I'd really like to find a planter that looks like a bicycle to put some pots in that doesn't cost $50. Let me know if you run across them! Oh, and Rachel kindly suggested to me that I should really get a welcome mat that said something and looked pretty, so I may be getting one of those tonight also.

So, that was my Sunday. I still have things yet to do, but the front of my house looks much better, and I feel I can now tackle some of the inside. :) Enjoy your day!

  1. Hey, glad to see you joined the blogging world!! Even though we work down the hall from each other, we don't get to share in our everyday lives as much as we like (or at least I like..hehe).

Anyway, glad to see that you are moving a step in the positive direction! BTW, we need to do another girl movie night sometime....I really have a few I want to see!!!! :-)
