I'm addicted!

Well, I posted a few days ago on my friend Kez's blog that I am with her in the stuggle to stay off the computer more. Especially since it is now summer and warm out and I have no excuse to stay on the computer! (Except that we have somehow moved to a climate similar to a monsoon). So, I am trying to brainstorm ways to get this done. My kids know all to well when they are looking for me they should look the the corner of the living room where I am all too often perched. So, can you help me? What do you do to stay off?

1) I count my steps every day on my new cell phone. Why shouldn't I do the same on my computer, counting minutes? For awhile, my goal was 15 minutes of computer for each time I did something around the house (load the dishwasher, load of laundry, clean my room, etc.) But I would like to reduce that time because mine has turned into 15 minutes of work and 2 hours of computer time!!! So, new goal. 45 minutes of computer a day. I can't decide if that is even possible with my incredible addiction!!!

2) My kitchen counters need to be cleaned off BEFORE I can get on in the morning, and after dinner in the evening. Also, I need to be dressed, and the kids have to feed.

3) My bed needs to be made. (I am a total slacker here...sorry Mom!)

What will I do with my new found time?? Maybe I should get my scrapbooking out again. Or go back to the library again (no, then I will be totally unavailable to my kids again..I really get into a good book!) When it stops raining, I could go do some gardening, the weeds are really taking over! Hmmm, go through my piles of paperwork that I probably don't even need anymore? Take some clothes to Goodwill?

Do you have any tips for me, or things that have worked for you?

My time is up, and Rachel wants to play Chutes and Ladders. No time to start but the present, right?

See you tomorrow (or maybe later tonight??!?)

  1. I can't suggest anything - or I wouldn't be as addicted as I am :)

Will be hoping for some suggestions myself though!

  2. I allow myself 10 minutes when I first get home from work. Then after summer when the dishes are done and put away, house is picked up, and Lydia is sleeping I can get back on. Hope it helps. See you in about an hour, after you get down with COMPUTER CLASS!!! How ironic is that?!?
