How Low Can I Go--Day 2

So....I'd love to say last night was a success. It wasn't, not entirely, anyway. I got home at about 3:30. At 3:45, I got a text from my daughter saying she needed supper, a $1 Double Cheeseburger from McD's (a very unusual request, since she doesn't even like McD's!!!). I told her I would get her that, and be there in about 4:30. Well, she didn't think that would be early enough. So, I rushed the kids through the kitchen. Ugh. Then, Jessy's friend called, and wanted McD's as well. So, my son found out we were going to McD's, and wanted a double cheeseburger as well. I told him he could, but he had to pay for it himself!!

So, $8 at McD's, $7 of it was paid back to me. Whew.

Then, it was off to the ballpark. I turned down MANY requests for food, and was very happy when Rachel was asked to be a ballgirl because it meant she got free food! Then, I did buy her a Gatorade ($1.50). Andrew ended up buying himself a whole meal.

All was great, until Jessy made her first goal!!! Our deal is when the kids have something special (like a concert or a contest, OR they make a goal or hit a homerun), we get ice cream. Now, I was very proud of her, but seriously, I could hear the cash register!! Luckily, she decided she didn't really want to go out for ice cream, and ice cream sandwiches would be enough. Which meant a trip to Hy-Vee. sigh. I bought her the ice cream, and remembered we didn't have juice, so I bought the kids favorite. The total at Hy-Vee was $5.46.

So, yesterday's total was $7.96. Huh. Amazing how even when I plan, I still spend money! Good thing I still had the cash. The real challenge now is getting through the next week without spending more than $7 in food money. I have NO CLUE how I will do that, but I'll keep you informed!

I'll add some pictures of the soccer game when I get home tonight!

  1. On the plus side, imagine what you would've spent without planning :)
